Went to London over the weekends to visit my aunt who's working there. First time in London and I successfully took a bus from Southampton to London Victoria and found the way to my aunt's place. Not too bad for a first timer eh? (:
Anyways, I kinda like London. It's a pretty place with lots of sights and history. Almost every street I went to had a monument of some sort and it was just a really beautiful place to see and explore. There were lots of people everywhere but I'm not too sure if that's the way it usually is or it was just because it was a weekend. Anyhow, I explored quite a bit, I must say, in just 3 days!
First time taking a tube to Westminster to meet my aunt. First sight of London I saw. So pretty (:
On the other side of the road, I saw Big Ben (:
Trivia: Did you know Big Ben is actually the name of the north bell in the tower instead of the tower itself?
Aunt's hotel.
Loving the courtyard and entrance to the hotel (:
In the bar at Dorchester because we were early for the dinner reservation. Passion Fruit tropical punch. It's yummy (: oh! I saw Tommy Lee Jones sitting across me at the bar drinking beer. How cool is that?? :D Didn't take a picture though :/
I LOVE almonds! (:
Aunt's blueberry colada.
Inside Dorchester hotel.
The restaurant we had dinner in is a French restaurant-Alain Ducasse (3 star Michelin) I love this restaurant to bits!! Love everything from the layout and the decor and the food and well, EVERYTHING! (:
Beloved aunt who bought me my super early 21st birthday dinner (:
Tomato something :/ soup? I don't know.
Super delicious Foie Gras with Cherry sauce. Aunt's fav (:
Escargot with parsley sauce. Damn nice.
My main: Lobster with macaroni stuffed with something :/
Aunt's main: Scallop and mushroom-ey stuffs.
Dark and praline chocolates for dessert.
Yummy macaroons.
The dessert trolley where we packed some snacks back (: I love this place! Missing it already.
Took a walk around China Town in London. It's not THAT chinese actually :/
London Eye at night. Can still see the clouds. So cool right?
St Margaret's church.
Big Ben at night.
Iconic red telephone booth of London.
Costa coffee is actually nice and cheaper than Starbucks.
1 star Michelin restaurant, Nobu on Park Lane. Japanese food! I miss sushi zanmai so much! Oh! I met Maroon 5 here. They were dining 2 tables away from me. Again, too pai seh to take picture with them just because its such a high class restaurant :/
The only fish I'll ever eat willingly. Black cod fish with miso sauce. The yummiest thing I've ever eaten. Too bad that piece itself is 32 pounds :(
Tempura.
Teriyaki chicken with rice. Super filling but I like! (:
I just realized I have smileys everytime I mention food. Oh wells (:
Taking a walk to Hyde park after lunch.
Some paintings the vendors sell along Hyde park are actually pretty, in their own way.
Such a chill out place. I like the peace and tranquility (:
Signs of autumn.
Doing touristy things. Buckingham palace.
Somehow I love this pic a lot though the exposure isn't that good. Loving everything from the taxi to the statue to the clouds. especially the clouds (:
People just lying down on the grass and sunbathing in St James' park.
Duck that splashed water on me -_- But it is kinda cute though.
More ducks.
Grey swan.
Looks like a fairytale land beyond the lake right?
I love how these flowers just grow randomly all over the grass. And they're so pretty!
Purple ones.
Fat pigeon sitting between the flowers :P
Cute squirrel I was stalking quietly.
Dunno what tree.
So many bees on the flowers. But its so pretty.
I have no idea where this is.
Another touristy shot. Guards on horses.
Went to Knightsbridge and paid a visit at Harrods.
Lots of chocolate!
Marzipan.
Christmas world in Harrods. Its so pretty. Makes me wish my favourite time of the year would come sooner.
Decor in Harvey Nichols. A really posh shopping mall. But I like it (:
Weird mannequins on every floor.
On the way for dinner at The Strand.
Somerset House.
Tom's terrace. The chef was awarded a 1 star Michelin and I think he's possibly the youngest one to get it.
Outdoor concept. Quite nice club music playing too.
My beef and bacon burger.
Aunts ratatouille and my chips.
*burps*
Blackberry meringue. Damn hard :(
Aunt's vanilla Panacotta.
Went to Hillsong London. It's darn awesome and its so hugeee! (: Miss church back home and miss going to church.
Lunch at Angel.
Loving the outdoor terrace kind of concept.
Award winning restaurant! (:
SUPER YUMMY roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and my Cranberry juice! (:
Lemon Cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Makes me miss baking :(
Apple Plum Crumble with Vanilla ice cream. HEAVENLY!
View from aunt's hotel's window. So many people right?
Zoomed in view of London eye from Aunt's window.
Cupcake aunt bought for me from Harvey Nichols. So pweety right? Sayang wanna eat but I did anyways :P
Decapitated the gingerbread man. Muahaha! (:
Finished. It was a really yummy cupcake. Made me feel like it was Christmas already.
And like all good trips, you need a souvenir. This is what I got....
a I HEART LONDON hoodie! so cliched and tacky but whatever, I like it :PSue me I'm cheesy.
That's my London trip guys! So awesome, will be going back real soon. Gimme a buzz if anyone's there.
A little update bout my attachments at Winchester elderly ward:
Loving it so much, the people are so nice and helpful, the patients are so friendly but its really sad seeing old people who have dementia and are delirious. But anyhow, I just love sitting down and chatting with them if I'm free. So much to learn and so many stories to hear. If only I had more time to hear their stories. Sometimes all they need is someone to talk to. Well, I'm loving every bit of it (:
xoxo, elvyna.
