Sweet seventeen partay!

I've been really free nowadays since uni only starts on the 25th of February so while I was reading the December issue of seventeen magazine, I came across the seventeen/clinique makeover party. It was only RM 50 so I, being so bored with nothing to do, dragged Amelia to come along with me for the event on 26th of January. It turned out to be more than we thought it was. So yea, it was held at The Scarlet in Cineleisure. It's a really nice place. Restaurant cum bar I think. Cool ambience and designs. Cute Nepalese waiters too:) *winks* The host was Xandria Ooi. She's really quite tall and prettier in real life than in magazines and all. Yea, so there was a skin care talk by Clinique, makeup workshops, Snips doing the hair and Kuku Bar for manicure.

The chocolate mousse they served was the BOMB! It was so addictive and it was the epitome of what a great dessert should be. Really. Should go try it sometime again:) Sinful indulgence I tell you. Yea, back to the event. It was really fun. Lots of freebies and vouchers as well.

All went well until Xandria said the stylist was gonna pick 3 girls from the almost 60 ppl crowd who he thinks has great personality and looks to model Roxy clothes. And guess who's name got called?

Xandria: The first person to be chosen, Elvyna.

*silence in the crowd*

Me whispering to Amelia: *Did she just call my name?*

Amelia: I think so.

Elvyna: Maybe not. It could be a Malay girl's name they pronounced wrongly.

Xandria(this time louder) : Elvyna Lim?

Yea. It was me. So yea, had to wear beach clothes and I did a catwalk in front of all those people**the embarrassment**. To make things worse, (like I wasn't already squirming and feeling umcomfortable doing the catwalk) the other 2 girls were already models for seventeen mag. So definitely I was so fitting into the expression, fish out of water :S Like really out. But it was all in good fun.

So the really pretty girl won and took back like RM 500 Roxy voucher I think. She was really good. Sweet girl she is too. Erm, yea. Then after all that, there was the lucky draw, which I coincidentally won too! :) And to finish things off, a performance by Alif from One in a Million. He said I was really tall. I just said he was short. Alrights! Another day gone by like that. Wish it would be like that everyday so I qouldn't stone and bum too much. Here are some pics..(none from the catwalk though cos I left my camera in the bag in the changing room:))
Me and Amelia.
Xandria.Friends I met there. Tung Tung and Carine. They're from Catholic High. One of seventeen mag's staff. The super pretty girl who won the modelling thing thing. Told you she was pretty. The 3 of us who got picked. (L to R) Liyana, Qairun, MeWith Alif.Oh. Guess who I bumped into there? Constance! She's been working at Scarlet for 3 days!:)

Bangkok Part 2

I've finally given up procrastinating and realized I haven't really finished blogging 'bout Bangkok. It's been almost 2 weeks since I got back and guess what? I still haven't unpacked yet. AT ALL. I seriously need time management tips. Anyways, I think I'm at the 3rd day now, right? (see, this is what happens when you procrastinate for soooo long)

Yup. I was a tourist on the 3rd day. Went to visit their well-known floating market like on Chao Phraya river- I think we've studied this somewhere in Geography Form 3 (don't remember it being well known for the floating market though):S The journey there was tiring, taking into account my motion-sickness. Nothing came out though, if you know what I mean ;)

Had to take a boat to the Floating Market. All smiles before I got splashed with dirty water from the river. Some boats selling stuffs in the floating market. It's really tight especially since there are so many boats.Too many pics to add here. An example will do:) (Btw, I'm watching all this from the land.)

Being a tourist attraction spot, those Thai people at the floating market just simply overcharge on everything they sell. Like seriously, the mango and sticky rice costs like RM 5 for me and RM3 for the other Thai lady. And she got 2 mangoes. I only had one:( I'm not complaining though. It was really sweet and not really up to my liking. Well, to give it credit, it wasn't THAT bad either..
My ONE mango sticky rice. I'm not being bitter now...
The aunty frying my 'char kuay teow' their version.
Was actually yummy.

So after visiting the floating market, the tour-guide brought us to a handicraft place where we learnt how people make saa paper/ mulberry paper and wood-carving. Wasn't bad but it would've been something I'd rather watch on National Geographic or Discovery. Was kinda stoning there for like the whole time.
An inverted umbrella on the ceiling. Damn weird.
She single-handedly carved this. I was soo freaking amazed I stood there for quite some time watching her:)
Was stoning so thought to myself, "Why not take a pic with the elephant?" so yea, there you have it :P

We were dead tired when we reached back so it was dinner and off to bed. Like wouldn't you be tired if you had to wake up at 5 am to go to a Floating Market 2 hours drive away on bumpy road?

So the 4th day and our last day was the funnest. We went to Chatuchak Market. I heard like there is over 10,000 shops in that market alone, and that was at last count! It was so BIG I even took half an hour to get out of the whole place. Scary huh? So yea, they seriously sell everything you can name. Clothes, shoes, food, wood, paper, and even dogs!! Cute lil puppies for sale. It was such a sight. Adorable-ness to the MAX! Oh yea, they sold squirrels too. It was kinda inhumane cos they chained it at the neck. eeks :(
Clothes at the market.
Pretty lamps. I bought a few. They're REALLY cheap! Couldn't resist ;DA huge variety of puppies for sale. They were all sooo cute and cuddly. And clean.
I had to pick one up to take a pic with. *extreme cuteness- **screams with delight!**I know you can't see how sunny and feel the heat but believe you me, it was scorching. My sunblock melted away like 10 minutes after I arrived here :SColourful Saa/ Mulberry paper. I bought like one of each kind and colour. It was so tempting and once again, cheap!Rattan stuffs. I don't remember taking this pic. Must've been a random one:)

Well, that was it for the Chatuchak trip. Shouldn't have gone on the last day. Not enough time!Anyways, to end this Bangkok post, it wouldn't be a Thailand trip if I didn't have what they're super-duperly famous for, yup, TOM YUM GOONG!!!! YUMS :)

Yea. I HEART Bangkok and all the shopping satisfaction it brings to me! :) Weeee!

All hail Bangkok!!

Bangkok Part 1

Because I am obviously too lazy to blog about Bangkok in one post, I shall break it down into parts. haha. Left for Bangkok on 16th of Jan. First time at LCCT taking Air Asia. Was a cool experience albeit the time I had to leave home to go there- 5am :s. It was sort of like a shopping trip with my aunt and boy, did we REALLY shop! Anyways, here's pics of our plane-adventure.The sunrise from my window-seat.*yawns*First cam-whore pic. I think I just woke up :SThe RM 8 nasi lemak in Air Asia. It was quite nice though..1901 New York chicken hot dog. RM 7 for this one.First bird's-eye view of Bangkok.

Once we got off the plane, we caught a cab and got stuck in the never-ending jam in the city center. It took us 1 hr to get to our hotel rather than the usual 30 minutes. So we checked in, freshened up and got out to SHOP! (yes, we don't waste any time;))
When we arrived at the hotel. The cleaners were busy cleaning the floor.
First ride on the "tuk-tuk" to Platinum Mall. The mall that sells everything(well, almost everything) at wholesale price. And there are over a thousand shops in there. I miss it! :(An exclusive inside view of Platinum Mall. No photographs were allowed to be taken. ssshh.Steamboat meal. The much-talked-about Suan-Lum Night market. There are many shops located here selling assorted stuffs. Bought pretty candles here. The famous MBK. We live opposite this mall. haha. The convenience ;P

We were pretty tired from the flight on the first day so it was a pretty short day out and we went to bed early.

On the 2nd day, we decided to just stay around the city and visit the malls. Siam Paragon, Siam center, Central world and all. Well, I've gotta say, I'm impressed. Siam Center is like One U, Siam Paragon is like Pavillion and CentralWorld, well, I forgot. haha. Ate in the mall. Swensen's there is really much nicer than it is here. I think it's cheaper too. Bought a new wallet from Paragon and just walked around there the rest of the day. haha. Boring I know. The superbly heavenly strawberries and ice-cream concoction.Indulging.

The view of part of the city from the malls.

That's all for Part 1. toodles!
